Itinerary

ITINERARY:

DAY 1: CUSCO – KM 82 – HUAYLLABAMBA

Very early in the morning we will pick you up from your hotel and then transport you by bus to km 82. In this place we will have the pleasure of meeting the team of people who will accompany us during our trekking, porters, chef, etc.; Then we will start the hike.

This first day is quite easy in the first kilometers. We will have a beautiful view of the snowy Veronica (5,900 m.a.s.l.), and we will walk next to the Urubamba River. Almost immediately we will see the archaeological complexes of Q’ente, Pulpituyoc, Kusichaca and Patallaca, where we can have lunch to recover strength. From that last point the road will continue along the left way of the Kusichaca River, in the area with the same name where we  will not only see the  bridge, also find tombs, aqueducts, terraces roads until reaching the little town of Huayllabamba (3,000 m.a.s.l.), where we will set up camp for the night.

This day we will walk 5 to 6 hours approximately.

DAY 2: HUAYLLABAMBA – WARMIWAÑUSCA PASS – PACAYMAYO

After breakfast we will start our walk, this day is perhaps the most difficult since we will have to ascend to Dead Woman Pass Warmiwañusca reaching at 4,200 m.a.s.l., we will traverse a beautiful forest of Queuña trees. We will have attractive views of the Andean landscape; we will arrive at Llulluchapampa (3,750 m.a.s.l.). After arriving at the Warmiwañusca pass, we will descend to the Pacaymayo Valley (3,620 m.a.s.l.) where we will camp tonight. From here we can already appreciate the extraordinary construction of the Inca Trail.

This day we will walk for 7 to 8 hours.

DAY 3: PACAYMAYO -RUNKURAKAY – SAYACMARCA – WIÑAYWAYNA

After breakfast we will start the trek, This is one of the most beautiful days of the Inca trail. We will visit the archaeological site of Runkurakay from which we will have a spectacular view of the area, we will go up the pass of the same name (3,800 m.a.s.l.), we will continue to the archaeological sites of Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca and Wiñaywayna, which are linked together by a wonderful original Inca road of white granite, among the abundant vegetation of the forest. We will observe the remarkable balance achieved by the Incas and their environment. Our campsite will be located in the surroundings of the archaeological site of Wiñaywayna (2,700 m.a.s.l.).

This day we will walk 8 hours.

Day 4: WIÑAYWAYNA – INTI PUNKU – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

This day we will get up early, at approximately 4:00 hrs. After having a comforting breakfast, we will start the walk. We said goodbye to the porters because they will return to Cusco with all the camping equipment.

We will walk in the middle of a dense vegetation typical of the rainforest towards the Sun Gate or Inti Punku, from where we will have a formidable panoramic view of the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, we are arriving to Machu Picchu approx. at 7:00 AM, Once here you will visit Machu Picchu for 2 and a half hours to see the most important places of Machu Picchu. The Sanctuary of Machu Picchu consists of two large areas: an agricultural one, formed mainly by terraces and food storage enclosures; and another urban one, in which the sacred area stands out, with temples, squares and royal mausoleums worked with an exquisite level of perfection.
