BASIC CUSCO WITH SHORT INKA TRAIL 6D/5N

DAY 01: CUSCO – CITY TOUR

In the morning we’ll welcome you at the airport and transfer to the hotel where you will have a traditional coca tea to help you to counteract some altitude effects of the city.

In the afternoon, City Tour in Cusco at approximately 13:30 hrs. We will pick up you at the hotel to start the tour in the majestic city of Cusco, which will include a visit to the Temple of Koricancha also known as “Temple of the Sun God” it was the most important temple for the Inca empire,  later we will go out of town where you are visiting the 4 ruins:

Sacsayhuaman, famous for its enormous carved stones and imperial types of buildings, and because at this place is held the Inti Raymi (Sun Festival) every year. Also we visit Qenko, an amphitheater where the Incas mummified their dead. The archaeological site of Tambomachay, a temple dedicated to the worship of water and the archaeological site of Puca Pucara. Finally, we will return to the city of Cusco.

At night 19:00 hrs. You can visit the Qosqo Native Art Center which is the First Group of Folk Music and Dances of Peru, where you can enjoy traditional dances, music and folklore of the Andean Culture (Optional).

DAY 02: CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY

This day we will visit the “Sacred Valley of the Incas” The tour starts at 08:30 AM in the morning, you will be picked up from the hotel to go to Pisac, where we will visit the famous market of crafts as well as the archaeological site of Pisac with picturesque terraces on the mountains, after which we head to Urubamba where we will have lunch.

Then we will visit the fortress of Ollantaytambo, It was named in honour of the Chief Ollanta, famous for his affair with an Inca princess, daughter of Pachacutec. It is the only city of the Incas in Peru which is still inhabited, Ollantaytambo would have been a city-Tambo or accommodation, strategically located to dominate the Sacred Valley.

After the tour you arrived to the selected hotel in Ollantaytambo town where you will spend the night.

DAY 03: SHORT INCA TRAIL FROM KM 104 – WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHUPICCHU

Early in the morning you will take the train in Ollantaytambo station to go to the Km 104, where we will begin our trek. From the archaeological site of “Chachabamba” (2250 masl) we climb in about two and a half hours into the fascinating archaeological site of “Wiñaywayna” (2650 masl) where we will enjoy our box lunch. In the afternoon we follow the semi-tropical forest to the “Intipunku” (the Sun Gate) where we can enjoy the first panoramic view of the majestic “Machu Picchu”. From here we descend to Machu Picchu citadel and then take the bus to Aguas Calientes, where you can optionally visit the thermal baths and comfortably spend the night at the selected hotel in Aguas Calientes.

DAY 4: MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO

This day we have the option to wake up very early and after breakfast we board the first bus 5:30 am to the sanctuary to appreciate the majestic sunrise in Machu Picchu, or according to your preference arrive later to Machu Picchu. Then we have the guidance in Machu Picchu citadel for about more than two hours, visiting the main venues of the city with our tour guide, places like the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, cemeteries and more, completed the tour you’ll have free time to visit Machu Picchu on your own.

At an appropriate time we descend from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes where you can take food in one of the many restaurants. And in the afternoon you will take the train back to Ollantaytambo, where our staff will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Cusco.

DAY 05: Free day in Cusco.

Free day to perform activities on your own, this day you can use the general tourist ticket that allows you to visit museums and places near Cusco, or go shopping in the city. We can also offer you optional activities such as Maras – Moray tour, cooking class, rafting, cycling, quad bikes, zip line or horseback riding (for optional activities check prices).

DAY 06: CUSCO – RETURN TO LIMA

At appropriate time, we’ll pick up you from hotel and transfer to the airport to take your flight back to Lima.
